Thursday, February 14, 2008: The Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce the promotion of T. John Cunningham to the position of Assistant Fire Chief. Mr. Cunningham has been with the Department for more than a decade and has previously held the positions of Lieutenant and Captain.

Friday, January 18, 2008: On Friday, December 21, 2007, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded a $98,280 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) to the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.

Tuesday, October 23, 2007: The Officer's of the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department are pleased to announce this year's recipients of distinguished service awards. The awards were announced and distributed this past Saturday at the Department's Service Board and Awards Dinner held at the Sound Beach Firehouse.

- Fire Department SCUBA Team Responds to Mianus River

Wednesday, August 29, 2007: Members of the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department's SCUBA team were dispatched to 36 Cary Road the evening of Monday, August 27, 2007 at around 11:17PM on a report of a missing person. Divers located the body of Joseph J. Moore, 54, in approximately 10 feet of water.
- Firefighters Practice Cold Water Rescue Techniques

Sunday, February 24, 2008: The cold weather didn't stop over 35 volunteer firefighters from throughout Greenwich from taking to the Mianus River today to practice life-saving rescue skills. Donning cold water rescue suits to protect them from the water and cold, firefighters took turns entering the ice-covered river to perform simulated rescues.
